Grew up in N. Dallas, got married & 1 yr. later wife (who grew up in Oak Cliff asked/said, 'I'd sure like to consider moving to Oak Cliff.' I replied, 'Are you crazy? I'm not moving to Oak Cliff'. She asked me to just go look with this realtor she had just happened to have lined up, which I did reluctantly. Guy knew what we were looking for and did a great job. What comes next is fairly miraculous for you religious types. I was stunned by how cool the houses were. Within 8 hours I was calling her telling her I had found the Cleavers' house (from Leave It To Beaver) which was priced about $20k under market and I wanted to put a contract on it that afternoon. That was 1984. We've never moved yet. Daughter went to DISD schools and is now an A student on a full ride at a very good east coast school. I feel safer here than in N. Dallas at my friends' houses. Not for everyone, but I think anyone wanting to move out of the sameness of most housing complexes would love it here.
